Mayfield and Easthouses Youth 2000 Project
Mayfield and Easthouses Youth 2000 Project (Y2K) is a community based youth work and informal education resource for young people aged 11 to 18. Y2K provides a safe environment for young people aged within drop ins, where support, information and advice can be offered and where young people can develop positive, trusting relationships with other young people and with staff. Y2K is a 'one of a kind' project in Midlothian East and our service is characterised by being rooted in, and grown from, the local community. Y2K provides drop ins 6 nights per week, streetwork 2 nights per week, a 1-2-1 services for extremely isolated, vulnerable young people. They support young Mums from the surrounding communities and offer support services withing the high schools. Y2K also provide training and work placements to young people, particularly those struggling in mainstream education.

Seeds For The Future: Adam, our Gardener

Fundraiser:

Hi, thanks for visiting.

Interested in the future of young people and offering the sort of opportunity once open to all? Interested in investing in young people AND getting a return for your support?

We want you to invest in one of our young people, Adam Kelly, and offer him, and young people like him, a fresh start in life.

Adam came to Midlothian Garden Service as part of his school timetable. He was finding it difficult to maintain a place in formal education and was engaging in risk taking/anti-social behaviour.

For Adam this was to be no 'easy option'. If Adam didn't attend school, he didn't attend the Garden Service!

After some initial ups and downs, Adam became an enthusiastic and committed member of the team. He thrived in a hands on, practical environment, completed his placement and moved on to a work programme provided by Midlothian Training Services (MTS).

This programme has now ended and Adam has been given an 8 week extension. Y2K and Midlothian Garden Service would like to recognise Adam's commitment by offering a one year contract, with study of Horticulture Level 2 at Border College.

This can only be achieved with your help. We need to reach £6,500 to provide an opportunity to break the cycle of unemployment experienced by too many young people.

Adam has proven his right to employment and training. Now we want you to help by investing in ‘The Seeds of the Future’.

Your investment can make all the difference - watch Adam and others like him to grow and in return:

  • For a £10 investment you will get a Seed of the Future
  • For a £50 investment you will get a Tree of Life
  • For a £100 investment you will get a hand made raised planter box
  • For a £500 investment you will get a two-day garden tidy-up*
  • For a £1,000 investment you will get a three-day garden make-over*.
* (Local gardens only)

Many thanks
