The Royal Foundation Of The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge And Prince Harry
The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry is the Patrons’ primary charitable vehicle, and hopes to become a leading philanthropic investor, effectively using its time and resources to create lasting change in targeted areas and geographies, based on need and on the interests of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The Foundation will seek to invest in, or partner with, organisations with proven impact, using its profile and leverage to create a multiplier effect in resources, outcomes and knowledge. The Royal Foundation has three current areas of focus: promoting the welfare of those who are serving or who have served their country in the Armed Forces; helping children and young people to achieve their potential; and supporting communities to protect and conserve their natural resources for future generations.

Henry Worsley's Shackleton Solo

It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Henry Worsley died on the 24th January 2016 in hospital in Punta Arenas, Chile. We wish to thank the many hundreds of you who have shown unfailing support to Henry throughout his courageous final challenge, and for your great generosity to the Endeavour Fund.

Thank you for visiting my page #shackletonsolo

In early November I will be setting off from the edge of Antarctica to attempt a solo, unsupported and unassisted crossing of the continental landmass, a first. I am commemorating the centenary of the journey that Ernest Shackleton planned to undertake in 1915 but failed to do so when his ship, Endurance, became trapped in the ice of the Weddell Sea and sunk.

My chosen charity is The Endeavour Fund, one of the Royal Foundation funds that grants money to wounded servicemen and women who wish to undertake activities in the physical arena as part of their rehabilitation process.

I have just completed a 36 year career in the British Army and I want to leave a financial legacy to assist my wounded mates over the journey of their recovery and I can think of no better charity to support than the Endeavour Fund.

Please log onto my website and follow my journey. In return for entertaining you, inspiring you and perhaps educating you, I would be so grateful if you could strongly consider supporting me to better the lives of those soldiers far less fortunate than me.

With grateful thanks

Henry Worsley

PS You will be making a donation to The Royal Foundation but I have ensured that your gift will go directly to the Endeavour Fund.
