We did it! 28 hours and 44mins later Claire and I crossed the line. We appreciate all the support and the amazing support crew. We could not have done it with out all of you
We would like to say a big thanks you to Europcar who have supplied the car. It is very generous and really appreciated.
Claire, Kathryn, Laurence and I (Alison) have been friends since April 2008. Up until we met, we hadn't considered ourselves to be particularly 'sporty' and raising money for charity mainly consisted of donning a smart frock and sitting at a table, sipping alcohol through most of the night.
In the two years we’ve known each other we’ve realised that there are better ways to give back which could not only be hangover-free, but also fuel our growing taste for fitness and focus our efforts on one challenge together. We also knew that Claire had completed 100km challenges on 3 occasions.... and Laurence and Kathryn knew that they were the people to talk her in to doing it one more time! Oh, and they were also responsible for 'inviting' me to take up the challenge (I don't actually remember having much choice come to think of it...!)
So, here we are, planning to walk the Trailtrekker - 100 km in the Yorkshire Dales - up and down one of the world’s most beautiful terrains, hopefully in 24 hours (our aim), for one charity we all care about: OXFAM. Call us crazy, call us deluded, call us what you like, we are a woman-only team, Team ‘Shaken Not Stirred’, entered to participate in this massive challenge on 5th June 2010.

We have started our training for the big day by completing a gruelling week long Boot Camp in Spain. Having had to wake up every morning in the freezing cold before sunlight, endure shouting ‘encouragement’ from ex-Marine Commando trainers through arduous physical challenges until well past sundown and swim laps in ice-cold pools, we have all just come back fit and ready to train hard.
Through Virgin Money Giving, this site, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly passed on to OXFAM. Don’t worry, the money goes straight to OXFAM. Virgin Money Giving just enables us to offer and online fundraising page so that all of you, around the world, can see on the internet and help us meet our targeted fundraising objective.
