Bob Champion was diagnosed with cancer in two parts of his body at the height of his riding career and the dream that kept him going through the long months of chemotherapy, was that one day he might win the Grand National on Aldaniti, against the odds in 1981 his dream came true. The interest and enthusiasm generated by racing’s greatest fairytale led to the foundation in 1983 of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. Since then much has been achieved by the Trust and its work into testicular and prostate cancer continues to give hope to thousands of men affected by cancer each year.

The Bob Champion Cancer Trust with Hannah's Willberry Wonderpony Charity is holding a one-off charity flat race at Cheltenham Racecourse on Thursday 20th April 2017. This race will celebrate Hannah's legacy and raise money for both worthy causes, the target is to raise a minimum of £100,000. Six celebrities from across the disciplines will ride including Nick Skelton, Tina Cook and Ben Hobday. The other six riders will be members of the public from other equestrian disciplines with the once-in -a-lifetime opportunity to ride at Cheltenham, the Home of Jump Racing.
