Simon Conroy

Jalia is a grassroots charity dedicated to supporting socially and economically disadvantaged children and communities in Nanyuki, Kenya. Working with local organisations, we provide funding and sponsorship for education, enterprise and poverty relief. Our vision is for all children in Nanyuki to receive an education so that they are better able to empower themselves. By focusing our efforts on both children and their communities we hope to support small-scale sustainable change.

Simon Conroy's Tot Dret race - fundraising

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. In 2013 I ran the full Tour de Mont Blanc trekking route in the French/Swiss/Italian Alps of 170km over a total height gain of over 9000m in just under 33hrs non stop.... This was all in memory of my Sister-in-law Fiona passed away in 2013, but her remaining legacy of being an educated Kenyan female will continue on in the charity work of Jalia....

Since beginning my fundraising we have raised enough and secured the secondary education for four girls, Rose, Margaret, Sabina and another Rose in Kenya over the next few years. Donations also boosted the charity from a motivational talk I did but also generous friends and family. To date we have raised over £7000 and are looking at including a fifth girl in January 2017.

Further donations will only ensure we can pay fully for the four years and and extra may give an opportunity more to begin looking at taking it further into college or university. Thank you for all your donations, we are in regular contact with Jalia and will continue to help in any way we can...

In 2017 I have a confirmed entry to the TOT DRET ultra trail running race based in Italy as the new sister race to the Tor de Geants. Unfortunately depsite applying there was no space for me in the Tor de Geants this year however with the help of Montane I have an entry to the Tot Dret - this is 130kms with 12,000m of ascent in the alps - 13-15th September 2017....
