The Maypole Project provides a lifeline of support for children with complex medical needs and their whole family. We support over 100 children with life threatening, life limiting illnesses and their families every year across South East London. The Maypole Project provides unique emotional support that is ongoing, flexible, responsive, professional and confidential. Each family is supported by one of our key workers who are specifically trained and supervised to offer emotional support, which ranges from befriending to counselling or therapy. This can be offered to whole families, one to one, couples, groups, and also extends into provision of information, advice and advocacy.

Hi, thank you for visiting my page. Back in 2008 when I first ran the London Marathon I said it was going to be for "one morning only" - and what a morning (and into the afternoon as well) it was, generously supported by people such as yourself.
In 2012 I have further secured a place for the London Marathon through the public ballot, and although this time I do not need to raise funds to take part, I decided I could not take part in such a great day and event without trying to raise a few more pennies for a worthy cause.
Following this I read an article in the local paper regading the Orpington based Maypole Project (http://www.themaypoleproject.co.uk) who were looking for "own place runners" to run on their behalf. So here we are ! This organisation "provides a lifeline of support for children with complex medical needs and their whole family". They support over 160 children with life threatening, life limiting illnesses and their families every year across South East London. As an "own place runner" you can be confident that virtually all of your donations (Virgin's cost only - see below) will go to supporting the charities work itself.
