Charity
Asthma UK is the only charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the 5.4 million people in the UK whose lives are affected by asthma. We fund vital research, health information materials and essential services for people with asthma, including the Asthma UK Adviceline and Kick Asthma holidays for children with asthma.
Please note Virgin Money Giving isn't responsible for the content fundraisers post on their pages, but if you see something you feel is offensive or inappropriate, please let us know and we'll look into it.
Simon Stone's fundraising page
HI thanks for visiting this page. I am running the Virgin london Marathon in aid of Asthma Uk. I have suffered with asthma my entire life with my childhood being particularly bad. Because its so common people dismiss it and don't realise how devastating this illness can be. Think how horrible it would feel to be strangled, struggling for breath feeling that your not going to get through it. This is a sensation asthma sufferers can experience on a daily basis and one I have numerous personal experiences of. I have spent many nights having to sleep sitting up becase my lungs simply couldnt take the weight if I laid down.
People also dont realise that simply not hoovering a carpet often enough can cause a child to have asthma. With more and more vehicles on the road and dirtier air asthma is becoming more common subjecting more and more to a life of fear and pain. 5.4 million in the UK today
Athma Uk not only funds reearch but helps sufferers, funds childrens holidays, fights for rights of asthma patients and provides an online and personal nursing station. It provides them with as all the information they need to help them live a more comfortable life.
There is no cure for athma. All we can do is help people live with it and try to manage it as well as possible. As such I think they are deserving of every penny I can raise. But can only do that with your help. Please sponsor me anything you can afford. I didnt have access to such a source and can promise you the difference is life altering.
