HemiHelp
Hemiplegia is a neurological condition that weakens one side of the body and affects one child in a thousand. It is sometimes described as a form of cerebral palsy and the effects are similar to those of a stroke. HemiHelp is a membership organisation offering information and support to children and their families affected by hemiplegia.

Hello Amigos

Darren, Jamie and I would love to raise ten thousand pounds for our friends at the HemiHelp charity. If we fall just short of this total it will be fine but it will be fun trying.

We will be sharing some information about what the team at HemiHelp are doing (so beautifully well)  in their 25th Anniversary year 2016/7 over the next few weeks and how your kind sponsorship will be wisely used.

So what are we doing to tempt you to part with your ill-earned cash. Some of you already know that from the very early days of my ultra-running adventures there was this little thing called Spartathlon - http://www.spartathlon.gr/en/ It’s a 153 mile super ultra that weaves its magic from Athens to Sparta and manages to destroy over 50% of the competitors who are even lucky enough to get a place. Last year  Darren took part (Jamie as support crew) and here is his beautifully stark blog http://dstrachan.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/spartathlon-2016-race-report-dnf-cp63_8.html

So the plan is to go back and conquer this beast.

In order to begin to get “Sparta ready” David needed to go to Spain and qualify by running 100km in under 10 hours. TICK

Then we need to run 100 miles per week for many weeks.

We are now entered in the 24 World Championships in Belfast just to try and get Sparta fit and have other events like the up and coming Brighton Marathon and the KACR race.

UPDATE - Darren's epic BELFAST blog - it's another toughie!!!!

Raising for HemiHelp is one massive way to try and remain focussed and to be mindful that the best thing you can ever do in life is to “think of others”.

So thank you for reading this far. Bottling up your thoughts about the 'meaning of life' and how this hopefully isn't the answer but through the haze accepting that folk at HemiHelp are genuine, wonderful and deserving of any funds that you kindly pass their way.

PS Raising is a 2 way street. If you have wonderful ideas on how "we" can raise together for HemiHelp then please please do let me know. If I can spend my time helping you achieve something and you help raise for hemiHelp then "let's talk over a protein shake"
