Charity

Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. We build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. We want every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live. Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated during treatment, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience. Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to ensure a swift diagnosis and referral to specialist support. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs and symptoms so they can seek medical advice if they are worried. We rely solely on donations to fund our vital work. You can help transform the lives of young people with cancer. Visit www.teenagecancertrust.org to find out how.

DUMBALL

The Dumball was founded by a bunch of like minded individuals who were fed up with reading about the japes of the rich and famous taking part in the Gumball Rally and wanted to do something for a good cause. Its all about who has the most fun, even when life on the road is tough. Let's get one thing straight THE DUMBALL IS NOT A HOLIDAY. It's a challenge, just like any other that's undertaken for charity.

The TCT is a charity devoted to improving the lives of young people with cancer, and the Royal Marsden Appeal aims to raise enough cash to start a brand new specialist unit in the South East of England.

This year we're going to drive a group of pimped up vehicles in convoy to the mafia capital of the world: Sicily (via 13 countries in 6 days of course). Cars can only be worth a few hundred quid, maximum. When we get there, we'll donate the cars to charity.

The 2010 event will kick off with a huge fundraising party and opening parade on Brighton sea front- with live music and a mystery guest to get things started. Then after a good nights rest we drive through: France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece...and it will all end with a magnificent awards ceremony in Sicily!

Keep up to date with our progress at http://dumball.org/blog/ and http://twitter.com/thedumball

See you in Brighton!
