Share A Star
Bringing back the sparkle for severely unwell children. Share a Star is about bringing back the sparkle into severely unwell children and teenagers. It is ultimately about making a difference to their lives. Being unwell can be very difficult. We are here to support the family and allow children to be children and teenagers to be teenagers. These special youngsters are special STARS and deserve to be treated like that too. The smiles that are made create priceless moments.

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Last year I went to watch the 2016 Virgin London Marathon and felt inspired.  Right there on the spot by Mudchute DLR station I decided that I would like to complete a London Marathon before I turned 40. Call me lucky or unlucky I was shocked and surprised to find out that I received a place via the ballot on my first attempt!

And so my story begins…..

I have thought long and hard about which charity I would like to raise money for and could not find it in my heart to pick just one. I have therefore chosen 2 charities that hold a place in my heart and here is why…

Cancer has touched the lives of my immediate family and friends more times than I would like to count. Cancer Research is a world leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and so far have saved millions of lives through prevention, diagnosis and treatments. They say 1 in 3 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime, just imagine how many people in total will be affected by all cancers. Cancer research aims to ensure that 3 out of 4 people survive all types of cancer by 2034 but they need money to be able to make that possible. Cancer can be an awful disease and I would love to see it eradicated in my lifetime. This is why Cancer Research is my first charity.

As a teacher of young children I spend the majority of my time with children and cannot fathom how difficult if must be for a young person to have to deal with a terminal illness and not have any hope for their own future. Share a star was set up in a small room by the founder, a young girl named Jessica who wanted to send positive messages of hope and to make other youngsters feel special, by creating a special holding star. Each star is handmade and completely unique, featuring the youngster’s favourite things. Everyone needs something that is special  to them and if I can raise enough money to give just one youngster the chance to smile and forget about what they are experiencing then 26.2 miles will be worth it.

Please help me to support others that are more vulnerable than I by donating as much or as little as you can. Come along to watch the thousands of people taking part and enjoy a great day out. Who knows maybe next year someone will be supporting you!

Thank you in advance

Stacey xx
