Connecting Conservation and Communities Save the Rhino International works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. We recognise that the future of wildlife is inextricably linked to the communities that share its habitat. By funding field projects and through education, our goal is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas.

A BEAST of a challenge
So first of all let me give you the facts about this ultra-distance marathon I have foolishy agreed to run:
- 56 miles (that's twice the London Marathon and a bit more for good measure)
- 12 hours in which to get fom start to finish
- 12kgs of extra weight in the form of a rather dapper Rhino suit
- 5 big hills
- and 20,000+ other like-minded loonies
And all this is taking place in the sunnier climes of South Africa at the end of May.
Yes I am mad.
But I do have excellent reasons for doing it. Besides the golden opportunity to volunteer myself for a traumatic physical experience and find my breaking point, it also gives me a solid excuse to beg for money for the equally hardworking conservation charity Save the Rhino. No, not manicures for Rhinoceros but paying wages for game scouts and rangers who protect wildlife and habitats, so that the local communities have access to clean water, clean soil, clean air and trees, and so that communities sharing resources with wildlife can be educated to better understand how they, their livestock and the wildlife all depend on having a healthy environment.
It will be HELL but your generous donation will keep my legs moving all the way through to the 56th mile. I promise. Thanks for supporting.
