Charity
The Afghanistan Trust exists to help support soldiers who served with The Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan who have been wounded or killed as a Consequence, and their families. The Trust gained charitable status in November 2007 (registered charity number 1121647) and since then has made many donations to injured soldiers including help with mobility, training and equipment for future employment; accommodation and transport costs for families to visit the wounded and for the bereaved to attend to attend remembrance services.

Stuart Newcombe's fundraising page
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
On the 27th of September 2012 I took part in the Big Bash at the Brewery, a charity fundraising white collar boxing event sponsored by Markel Insurance. I fought raise money for The Afghanistan Trust:
The final count will see over £3,000 being raised which will be enough to pay for two injured soldiers to undergo resettlement training to help them on their way to a second career after medical discharge from the army.
This was my first (and quite likely last!) ever attempt at boxing - it was unbelievably hard work despite 4 months of hard preparation. Within 30 seconds it was obvious that no matter how much I had practiced, it was not going to go according to any plan!
The link below is for the Youtube video of the fight. I was the last fight of the night, and the venue was about to stop the bouts, hence the very rushed entrance and shorter rounds. I was not too upset that they shortened the rounds!

A very, very big thank you to everyone - you have really made a difference to the lives of some very brave soldiers.
Stuart
