Does my bum look big in this?

Fundraisers:

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/SundayLunch

And no, that pic is not of any of us, but we will be posting funny team training pics once we get our very own sumo suits!!

Suzanne, Kat, Harriet, Mike and Byron are passionate about sport - in the sort of "give it a go" rather than a "go for it" capactity at times, and this is one occasion where that philosophy rings true!

We have banded together to create the "Sunday Sumos" and run in the annual 5km Sumo Run in Battersea Park on the 19th June 2010.

Our team spirit is second to none, with our personal motto reflecting our desire to keep on going and never give up, we have adopted that well worn mantra of "1 Tequila, 2 Tequila, 3 Tequila, 4...." to keep us focussed and helping us strive towards our goal, not only to all cross the finish line, but to also raise £2000 for a worthy cause.

All info is below - please dig deep - its for the children!!!

Love Suz, Kat, Harri, Mike & Byron xx

Where dose your money go your £250= 1 school connected in the developing world.

The money you raise for this year’s sumo run will be funding Gemin-I to run an HIV and AIDS awareness project, entitled Global Action Exchange, in schools across over 100 countries around the globe. Your key messages for sponsors are below but but please see over leaf for a more detailed project plan.

An introduction Youth action Exchange will be Gemin-I’s biggest and most ambitious project since our beginnings in 1998. Backed by the funds raised from this year’s sumo run, as well as prestigious EU funding, we will be reaching an unprecedented number of children across the globe: AT LEAST 60000 students in 1000+ schools, across 115 countries. The project will run for a minimum of 36 months.

Project aim Y.A.X aims to raise awareness and generate understanding among young people across the globe about HIV and aids epidemic and to bring young people together to take action on it. With increase awareness and understanding, we will be providing them with the tools they need to join campaigns and urge their governments to deliver on their commitments to combat HIV and AIDS.

Project method: participants will join Gemin-I’s online interviews with experts on the community, each young person will develop a thorough understanding of the HIV and AIDS epidemic and how it relates to their local community and country.

The outcomes: through developing their understanding and awareness of the issue, students will identify tangible ways in which they can play a role in combating HIV and AIDS.
