South Lakeland Carers
South Lakeland Carers provides support for young and adult carers to enable them to continue in their caring role. We work across South Lakeland and support more than 1,000 carers each year. In the UK, one in ten people is a carer, offering unpaid support to a family member, friend or neighbour who is unable to manage on their own. Many carers suffer problems with their own physical and mental health. They are often socially isolated and their finances suffer as many have to reduce their working hours or give up work. We provide carers with emotional and practical support, and allow them to take some time for themselves. Our services, whose development is informed by carers, include carers’ assessments, counselling, sitting services, relaxation therapies and monthly support groups. Almost all services are provided free of charge to carers. We offer specialist projects and activities for young carers. Although we are contracted by Cumbria County Council to deliver some of our activities, this does not pay for all of the services our carers need. Your donations, whether large or small, make a huge difference to us and help us to continue our work with carers.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

I am the Dementia Carer Services Co-ordinator at South Lakeland Carers. I am going to be cycling (not my usual pastime) 81 miles along the Bay Cycle Way from Walney in Cumbria to Glasson Dock in Lancashire.

This is quite a challenge for me but I am determined to finish the ride, keeping me going will be the knowledge that I am raising funds for such a worthwhile cause and the money raised will go towards the needs of Dementia carers in the South Lakeland area.

I have a full training programme of gym work, swimming, running and of course cycling. I am training at Pulse Leisure which is part of the CAstle Green Hotel in Kendal and the staff are very supporting and encouraging as are all my collegues at South Lakeland Carers.

Wish me luck.
