Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. We build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. We want every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live. Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated during treatment, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience. Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to ensure a swift diagnosis and referral to specialist support. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs and symptoms so they can seek medical advice if they are worried. We rely solely on donations to fund our vital work. You can help transform the lives of young people with cancer. Visit to find out how.
Restart (formerly known as the RPA Benevolent Fund) was established in 2001 to support ill or injured players, during and after their professional rugby career. It is every rugby player’s dream to combine his job with his passion and wear the shirt for his team, his club and ultimately his country. Each year the game becomes faster, stronger and more powerful. Thankfully, most players avoid serious injury, but a professional rugby career can be threatened at any time: a bad tackle, a collapsed scrum, a serious concussion, an accident or illness off the pitch. When the worst happens, Restart is there to pick up the pieces for players and their families. We provide financial, practical and emotional support in the following ways: - Help with the cost of long term or on-going medical treatment - Equipment or home improvements to assist with rehabilitation and disabled access - Support to attain qualifications and retraining in the event of a career-ending illness or injury - A counselling service to help players and their families cope during difficult times - Financial support if a player is unable to work as a result of illness or injury As an increasing number of players suffer career-ending injury, it is vital that Restart continues to grow. We rely on the support of businesses, rugby supporters and the players themselves to raise funds each year for those in need. A considerable amount of funding and pro bono support is given by The RPA, including staff time, office space and fundraising opportunities at high-profile commercial events.
