Huntingtons Disease Association
The Huntington's Disease Association exists to support people affected by the disease and to provide information and advice to professionals whose task it is to support Huntington's disease families. We operate a Regional Care Advisory Service which consists of a team of Regional Care Advisers who provide information and advice to families, answer crises calls and liaise with other professional service providers, promote and develop a full range of local services, identify suitable respite and residential care facilities, liaise with local branches and self-help groups, give talks and organise seminars and training days provide speakers for training sessions, provide workshops for service providers and users such as health, social services, nursing homes, and residential care staff teams.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.To celebrate the Tour de France starting in Yorkshire in 2014 we decided to ride the two Yorkshire stages back to back as the professionals will in July. Stage 1 is 118 miles and stage 2 is 124 miles, not only is this two huge distances on consecutive days but we will have to contend with the fabulous hills en route!

As this is going to be a huge challenge we decided to combine this with fundraising for the Huntington's Disease Association (HDA) and awareness raising of Huntington's Disease which is not as well known as other neurodegenerative genetic disorders.

The HDA provide support for families affected by Huntington's Disease throughout the UK and some of the money raised here will help their valuable work, see www.hda.org.uk for more information. The rest of the money will go towards the West Yorkshire branch of the HDA which provides support for families locally as well as organising local events for branch members (www.hdawestyorks.org.uk).

If you are able to donate then that would be great and very much appreciated. If you are unable to donate then please forward this page to friends and family as awareness raising is just as important as fundraising.

Team members confirmed so far are:

  • Mark Armitage
  • Pete Wajdner
  • Denver Slowther
  • Dick Vincent
  • Neil Fursey
  • David Joseph

Thanks for your support and we look forward to updating this with further news nearer the time and as we complete the challenge!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
