Mencap
Mencap is the voice of learning disability. Everything Mencap does is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability, and their families and carers. We work with people with a learning disability to change laws and services, challenge prejudice and directly support thousands of people to live their lives as they choose. There isn't room to list everything we do here, but there's loads of information on our website http://www.mencap.org.uk

2012 Race to the South Pole Team SladenWoods

Thanks for visiting our page.

January 2012 marks the start of the Olympic and Paralympic year but it is also the centenary of Scott of the Antarctic. To celebrate both of these occasions James Mark and Marc Woods are entering a team in this year’s race to the South Pole - Team SladenWoods

The race is over 750km to the South Pole and has been called the most difficult and testing event in the world and has been held just once before. On that occasion James Cracknell and Ben Fogle were filmed for the TV series 'Thin Ice' as they struggled to drag their 70kg pulks in temperatures as low as -50c.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to MENCAP, the charity we have chosen to support.  If you click on the 'donate now' button you'll be presented with a few options. You may well choose to click on 'other' and contribute an amount with a few extra zeros at the end!

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
