People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals peta Foundation
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. Like humans, animals are capable of suffering and have interests in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use - for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation or any other reason. PETA and our affiliates around the world educate policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promote an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. PETA works through public education, research, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.

Hello - and THANK YOU for looking at my page. Somehow I am imagining that I am going to get off the couch, put down my Mars Bar and run 26 miles at speed, all at once, to raise money for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

This charity believes, as I do, that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on or abuse in any way. Currently they are working with Roger Moore and Kate Winslet to stop foie gras production (and to persuade Fortnum and Mason to stop stocking it),  to stop PG Tips, Liptons and Lyons from testing their tea on animals (to 'prove' its' health giving properties), and to stop Jimmy Choo using crocodiles and alligators to make their bags and shoes. The organisation is also working to stop fur farming (at the moment particularly the practice of using real bear fur for Guards' headpeices), bullfighting around the world, animal testing of cosmetics (the EU was on track for this legislation to go through and now they seem to be changing their minds), KFC's abuse of millions of factory hens for their 'restaurants' - sadly, the list of abuses goes on and on.

Please, if you can, help me support their work with a donation HOWEVER SMALL. I am far from being a natural athlete but these injustices keep me awake at night and spur me on to keep running when it is minus 10 or raining or I am tired and would rather be hutched on the couch in my elastic waist with a slab of cake and a glass of wine. Any donation at all will be appreciated more than I can say. Thank you.
