WheelPower
Each year, many thousands of men, women and children become disabled due to an accident or illness. Many more are born with a disability which means they need to use a wheelchair. WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport, provides opportunities, facilities and equipment which enable disabled people to play sport and lead healthy active lives.

John O'Groats to Lands End

Hello, and many thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Wheel Power. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

The plan is to cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End in nine days, which is an average of 114 miles per day. This involves a few 'undulations'. Both riders are old guys of around 60, so this is quite a big challenge. It would help to have the added incentive of knowing that meeting our target will make a difference to at least two wheelchair-bound people. Wheel Power supports all disabled people who are confined to a wheelchair and, among other things, provides specialist sports wheelchairs. Wheel Power helps a wide range of disabled people (children, trauma victims, etc) to become more active. This improves their physical health and potentially has a major impact on psychological and social functioning. Importantly, this is not just about supporting elite disabled athletes, it is mainly about supporting ordinary people to achieve their potential and enrich the quality of their lives.
