NSPCC
The NSPCC's purpose is to end cruelty to children. Our vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. We seek to achieve cultural, social and political change - influencing legislation, policy, practice, attitudes and behaviours and delivering services for the benefit of all children and young people across the UK and Channel Islands. In September 2008, the NSPCC launched its Child's Voice Appeal to answer more children's cries for help. Every day, thousands of children and young people need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face, while hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC Helpline, worried about a child's safety. With the help of people like you, ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline are already there for thousands of children and young people, but many more need our help. We rely on the generosity of the general public to continue our work.

From 05:00am 26th June to 05:00am 27th June 2010, we will be completing (or doing our very best to complete) the UK Three Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours.

Why would 7 otherwise well-behaved, sensible young folk brave snow, freezing winds, sharp rocks and assorted injuries to run around cold, dark mountain peaks in the middle of the night?

a) because they were uncouncious at the time of saying "yes"

b) to repent for past sins, or...

c) because they were wickedly blackmailed into participating?

Whilst the truth may never be fully revealed, here is the true facts of the challenge:

The three peaks are the highest in all of Scotland (Ben Nevis),England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Mt Snowdon).  We will walk, run and painfully limp around 25 miles (40 km), climb around 10,000 feet (3,050 m), and endure a hair-raising drive of nearly 500 miles over winding mountain roads at night, averaging less than 2 hours sleep!

Although the rewarding pint of flat warm ale at the end of the Challenge is admittedly the major motivation, the main reason for completing this crazy event is to raise money for the NSPCC. We are aiming to raise around £2,000, which will help the NSPCC ending cruelty to Children in the UK.

You can sponsor us and make donations via this website. Your donations will be a huge motivational factor for us whilst climbing/walking/limping...so a massive thank you in advance for your support.
