Charity
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. It funds research to treat the symptoms of CF and to find an effective treatment. It also aims to ensure appropriate healthcare for those with Cystic Fibrosis and provides information, advice and support to people with CF and their families across the UK. Cystic Fibrosis is one of the most common, life-threatening diseases in the UK. It affects over 9,000 people and 1 in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis. If two carriers start a family, each child has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus making it hard to breathe and to digest food. People with Cystic Fibrosis have to endure a rigorous daily treatment regime including physiotherapy to clear the chest, inhaled and injected drugs to thin the mucus and fight infections and dozens of enzyme pills to help digest food. Each week, five babies are born with CF and sadly, each week three young lives are lost. Only half of those with Cystic Fibrosis are likely to live past their late 30s, but a baby born today can expect to live longer. We seek to continually improve standards of care for people with CF; we commission cutting-edge clinical and scientific research; and provide practical and accurate information to people with CF and their families. None of this would be possible without the support of the CF community and the generosity of the public.

Emily's World Record attempt!
Hi all, thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
As some of you know...I made a rather hasty decision to run the London marathon for the third time this year. Yes, not content to just do it the once, i am back for thirds!
So what could make it that bit more difficult this time around..?!
Why attempting a world record as the fastest fairy to complete a marathon of course!
So why am I supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation?
A little friend of Freddie's, Amelie has cystic fibrosis. When I first met her I had no idea that she had cystic fibrosis. When I found out, I assumed that her quality of life must be, at some level, affected by her condition. I couldn't have been more wrong! There is nothing she can't do, thanks to major advances in the way cystic fibrosis is treated in recent years.
She is a beautiful little girl and as bouncy and bubbly as the rest of Freddie's friends, if not more! And that is the way we want her to keep her. She may have to work a bit harder to stay that way, but with extra funds for medical research into cystic fibrosis, Amelie and others like her should find living with cystic fibrosis easier and easier.
I feel that if running as a fairy for her and others affected by cystic fibrosis, raises much needed money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, then all those hours running through snow, rain, wind and hail will have been worth it!
And yes I know some of you will think, well she loves running anyway so why sponsor her to do something that she does of her own free will? Well why not sponsor my long-suffering Mike for all those extras hours of solo childcare he has has to put in to allow me to take on this challenge?!
Any donation is welcome, it really will make a difference.
Wish me luck!
Emily xx
