ShelterBox
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that specializes in emergency shelter. We help thousands of disaster affected families every year by sending ShelterBoxes. Although the contents of our large green ShelterBoxes will vary depending on the type of disaster we are responding to and where in the world they are being sent, they will generally include a specially designed disaster relief tent, a stove, a kitchen set, water purification equipment, blankets, a toolkit and more. A ShelterBox will provide an extended family of up to 10 people with shelter, warmth and dignity for approximately 6 months. Every donation that we receive will help us provide shelter, warmth and dignity to families across the world who have lost everything due to disaster.

Raising Money Racing Round Roseland

Fundraiser:

Well I did it! Completed the distance and didn't come last...

The weather gods were kind and I finished the course in a little over 4 hours. Sadly I suspect the recovery may take a little longer!

A huge thank you to all those sponsoring me. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, read on.........

As part of my contribution to a week of fundraising and awareness building for the disaster relief charity ShelterBox I will be kayaking, running and cycling around the beautiful Roseland Peninsular, Cornwall.

Starting from the harbour at St. Mawes at 08:30 on Saturday morning this 44km multi-sport race will see me paddling 2 km from St Mawes Harbour across the bay to Molunan Beach (by St Anthony Lighthouse), running 11 km along the coastal path to Pendower Beach and cycling 28 km to St Just before a final 3km sprint (who am I trying to kid!) back to the finish line in St. Mawes.

With a potential field of around 50 participants my target will be to actually finish, and preferably on the same day as the start. I understand that outside assistance is prohibited so hopefully I won’t be needing an ambulance to complete any of the stages and although I’m doing it to raise awareness of ShelterBox I will aim to avoid too many headlines of the “fundraiser in dramatic coast path crash” variety!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
