The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts
The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts is an educational charity which provides access for young people who would otherwise grow up having had no, or very limited opportunity, to engage with the arts. Through the work of The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts children learn that cultural venues are welcoming, accessible and exciting places to visit. It seeks to foster in them a lifelong love of the arts.

UPDATE 12TH oct

So, yep, did it. Woo.

It was rather fun actually. The course was beautiful and lined with lovely people smiling with enthusiasm and grimacing with pity, making the runners feel supported and resentful. The 12th mile was extremely long (I don't know why they insist on doing that) and the 13th was really quite painful, but my memory of it is blurry, which is nice.

My time was 1:34:46, which I was well chuffed with. (My halfway split was 47:22... a consistent pace, if nothing else. Plodding, you might say). And I won my bet with my nemesis, the comedian Mark Watson! This page awaits impatiently his up-coughing.

I want to thank you from the bottom of the bit of my brain I call my heart for your incredible generosity. The Children and the Arts folk are pleased with us, and will use your valuable poundage to wondrous ends.

Those of you here for the first time, retrospective sponsorship is encouraged! Even a pound or two would be greatly appreciated. The page will stay open for a couple of months, I think.

Love and soreness,

tx

Hi folks.

So the plan is, I'm going to run a reasonable distance to raise money for The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts. I'm going to run as fast as I can, which will not be very fast, and will wear small, sexy shorts, which will not be very sexy.

The foundation is an educational charity that gives kids who don't get to see / engage with the arts much a chance to do so. I'm an ambassador for the foundation because I worked in youth theatre for years and know first-hand how profoundly and positively kids can be affected by getting in amongst music and theatre and all that jazz.

To find out more about the charity, scroll over the Children & the Arts banner on the left there, and to find out even more, click on the damn thing. And if that doesn't work, just go here: www.childrenandarts.org.uk

Also, you can come down on the 10th October and watch if you want. I'm prepared to give lots of high-fives. And if you like suffering, you'll probably enjoy it - I have a rather masochistic approach to running and will probably totally break myself.

And it's my birthday on the 7th, so I'll be, like, 35 frickin years old.

OK. That's all. Stop reading, click on the button.. Thanks for playing.
