Parkinson's UK
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone. We bring people with Parkinson's, their carers and families together via our network of local groups, our website and free confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, our supporters and staff provide information on every aspect of Parkinson's. As the UK's Parkinson's support and research charity we're leading the work to find a cure, and we're closer than ever. We also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services. Our work is totally dependant on donations. Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We’ve saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years. We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common, such as breast, bowel, lung and prostate cancers, to rare types of tumours and children’s cancers, we support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone.
Make-A-Wish Foundation UK
Make-A-Wish Foundation UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then we have granted over 8,600 magical wishes to children and young people aged between three and seventeen years old. There are over 20,000 children in the UK living with a life-threatening condition, and we believe that every one of them deserves to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish. This year, around 1,100 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. Our wishes are truly magical. A small and dedicated team of professional wishgranters works alongside hundreds of volunteers to turn our children’s wishes into reality. Whether a wish is to be a princess or a train driver for the day, own the latest TV or computer equipment, meet a favourite celebrity or just enjoy some special time away from home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child’s life and provides memories that last a lifetime for the whole family. Make-A-Wish needs to raise over £7 million per year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. We receive no government funding or lottery grants, relying on the generous donations of the public - and that’s why, for our charity, every donation really counts.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Last year on the 14 August I started the challenge of 1095miles.com this is running 3 miles a day for 365 days and writing a blog everyday, without missing a day....
I want to rasie money for three charities, Make A Wish, Parkinson's UK and CRUK. Here are my resaons why:
On my first run back in August on the beach is Wales I had already chosen ‘Make A Wish’.  I have no personal connection to this charity. But their aim is, ‘to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions’.  I interpret this as making a dream come true for children who are going to pass away from an illness, before they can grow into adults, fall in love, have a family, follow their dreams… I believe we should do everything we can to help them ‘Make A Wish’, when everything is black around them, give them a sunny day.  Plus also give some memories to their family who can cherish these, in the future.
The second charity is ‘Parkinson’s UK’. Late last year my Mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. What is Parkinson’s? It is a progressive neurological condition, where there is not enough dopamine in the brain and some nerves die. Without dopamine people can find their movement become slower so it takes longer to do things. This gets worse over time and currently there is no cure…
We all know Muhammad Ali, and the saying, ‘float like a butterfly but sting like a bee’. Well my mother is just like that, I understand in her youth she used to going dancing she could ‘float like a butterfly’ across the dance floor, and when I was naughty, (not very often!!!) her hand could sting like a bee!! I want to help raise money for research and awareness of Parkinson’s.
The third charity is CRUK. Unfortunately we all know someone who has had cancer and most will know someone who has passed away from this disease.  Recently there are too many people I know who are fight this **** disease, (sorry for the language). I think it is about time we kick cancer where it hurts…
Please please give what you can afford to my just giving page and it will be split between these three great charities, and I will keep running till day 365 is complete.
