Time to take M.E. seriously

My sister Naomi has suffered from M.E. for over 27 years, after becoming ill in 1990.  The illness has robbed Naomi of her health from the age of 12, taking away from her opportunities that so many of us take for granted: going to secondary school, learning to drive, going to university, getting a job, buying a home, starting a family and many more.

M.E. is a misunderstood illness which affects around 250,000 people in the UK (roughly 1 in 250).  It is still unknown as to what causes it, though research shows that the brain and immune system are affected.  There is no known cure.  M.E. has a devastating impact on both the sufferer, but also on their family.  I was 8 years old when Naomi became ill, and have had to watch my big sister endure the most excruciating pain and suffering, for many years.  I have always felt so helpless, and wish I could do more to help Naomi, and others in the same situation.

I am now an ambassador for ME Research UK, and am running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2017, to raise funds for research, and also much-needed awareness about M.E.  It would mean a great deal to me if you could support my campaign by sponsoring me, and also by sharing my posts and videos via social media.  Raising awareness is also vital, so your support will be hugely appreciated.

I will keep on running, and fighting for the cause.  Hopefully, one day soon, a cure can be found for this terrible illness.

ME Research UK fund scientific (biomedical) investigation into the causes, consequences and treatment of M.E.  More information about ME can be found via this link: http://www.meresearch.org.uk/what-is-me/
