NSPCC
The NSPCC's purpose is to end cruelty to children. Our vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. We seek to achieve cultural, social and political change - influencing legislation, policy, practice, attitudes and behaviours and delivering services for the benefit of all children and young people across the UK and Channel Islands. In September 2008, the NSPCC launched its Child's Voice Appeal to answer more children's cries for help. Every day, thousands of children and young people need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face, while hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC Helpline, worried about a child's safety. With the help of people like you, ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline are already there for thousands of children and young people, but many more need our help. We rely on the generosity of the general public to continue our work.

    Supporting the NSPCC

Each year, the UK Challenge teams up with the NSPCC to help raise money to protect children all over the UK. Over the past ten years UK Challenge teams have raised an amazing £3.7M for the NSPCC, helping to support the 150+ services the NSPCC provides: including ChildLine; the NSPCC Helpline; online advice service There4Me.com; and direct work with abused children and those at risk of abuse.

For our three teams, raising money for charity is a key part of the build up to event, and it's a commitment that brings additional rewards at the start-line in the form of bonuses and clues.

    523 Mile Challenge

It's 523 miles from leafy Berkshire to the forbidding mountains of Aviemore! Our UK Challenge teams are trying to cover that distance (at least!) on foot, bike and canoe, during their training between now and the event. That's 523 miles for each team member - a total of 9,414 miles over all three teams.

We'll keep you updated on our teams' progress here.

From 16/3/10 to 02/6/10 the team (excluding exec and reserve members) has recorded 3722 miles, equivalent to over 620 miles each.

Our teams have now covered the 9,414 mile target!
