Charity
Shooting Star House is a very special place, a real home-from-home for the children we are privileged to care for. We provide essential care for children with a life-limiting condition and offer invaluable support for the whole family, completely free of charge, 365 days a year. Our fundamental Care Services include respite care, both at the hospice and in the child’s own home, specialist end of life care and bereavement counselling. There are some wonderful facilities for our families to enjoy, including a hydrotherapy pool, a multi-sensory room and specifically adapted play equipment, both indoors and outdoors. With no long-term statutory funding, we rely upon voluntary fundraising and donations to provide the £3 million needed each year to maintain our Care Service, supporting families who find themselves in unimaginable circumstances.

Le Voyage Du Fromage
As the final part of a wider unique charity event - 'Le Voyage du Fromage' (visit www.voyagedufromage.co.uk for more information) - I will be attempting to kitesurf across the Channel within the record time of 2 hours 30 mins. Exactly when will depend on the wind but it should be in the first couple of weeks of May.
Any donations will be greatly received and will ensure that my voyage through the world's busiest shipping lane is worthwhile! The money raised will be shared between The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, detailed below, and The Lebara Foundation. Both are doing a fantactic job in helping disadvantaged children.
I really appreciate all your support,
Thanks, Capt'n Rob
P.S 'Le Voyage du Fromage' kicks off with a charity bike ride. We would like as many cyclists to take part as possible. If you are interested in a unique and fun charity event visit www.voyagedufromage.co.uk or email me robkiting@yahoo.co.uk for more details.
