Martin House
Martin House Children's Hospice provides care for children and young people with progressive, life-limiting illnesses and offers support to their families across Yorkshire. We need to raise £4.9 million annually to run the service we provide at our purpose built hospice in Boston Spa near Wetherby. The aim of Martin House is to provide family-led care in a home from home environment. It is a place where children, young people and their families can stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. Thank you for thinking about Martin House. Your support is much appreciated. Every penny counts!
Forget Me Not Children's Hospice
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life shortening conditions and their families across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Our charity began more than 12 years ago as a result of the challenges faced by local mum whose son Russell needed full time care. We are now supporting 150 children and their families through our hospice at home service and at our state of the art hospice, Russell House, in Huddersfield. When a child has a life limiting condition they still need and want the same as every child- the chance to play, to communicate, to experience new things, to learn, to love and to laugh. We are here to do everything we can to make children happier and more fulfilled while they are with us, however long or short that may be. Despite the common perception, a children’s hospice is about enjoying life. We give support to the whole family, we help parents have time to just be mum and dad again rather than full time carers, we give time and attention to siblings and we support families through bereavement counselling and general emotional support while they are caring for the child and often for years afterwards. With over 700 children and families who could benefit from our care across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield areas we are only at the start of our journey and we would like you to be part of that journey with us. We need to raise £3.8 million each year to continue the support and care services that we provide to our children and families. With just 6% of our funding coming from the government, the support of our local community is vital.
Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice provides support to children in South Yorkshire,North Derbyshire,North Nottinghamshire and North East Lincolnshire with life limiting conditions, which means the child is not expected to live into adulthood. We estimate that there are 500 children in this region who could benefit from our support. Our hospice is a relaxed and happy place where families can take a break, have fun and get help with the care they need. We also assist children and their families in their own homes. Our support includes ongoing medical respite care for the poorly child, practical and emotional support for family members, sibling and bereavement support and end of life care. It costs £3 million annually to provide this service, and with no statutory government funding, fundraising and public support is vital to our success.

This is the online giving page for the Johnston Press Charity of the Year - Yorkshire Children's Hospices' Appeal.  Bluebell Wood, Forget Me Not and Martin House Children’s Hospices care for  children and young people with life-shortening conditions, and their families, across Yorkshire.

Children’s hospice services help families make the most of their precious time together. They provide flexible, practical and free support at home and in the hospice to the entire family, often over many years and at any stage of a child’s illness. These services provide care around the clock to thousands of families in communities right across Yorkshire.

Our hospices give families the chance to have a break from caring and provide specialist services including hydrotherapy, music therapy and bereavement support.

Care teams support the whole family through their journey and spend time with siblings who take part in a range of activities and get the chance to meet other children going through similar experiences.
