a Life for a Cure

Charity

Meningitis UK
Meningitis UK funds lifesaving research to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis. Sadly meningitis can be incredibly difficult to detect as the symptoms are similar to the common cold or flu, plus there are occasions when people show no, or very few, symptoms. For these reasons we believe the only way to truly eradicate meningitis is through the development of a preventative vaccine, which is our sole focus. We work with families across the UK who have experienced meningitis and are confident that with enough support, we will be able to put a stop to the heartache and devastation that meningitis causes. Our sincere adoration and thanks to everyone for their fantastic support. Our Commitment to raising funds in honour of Ryan is without doubt long term, with a personal fundraising target of £1 million towards an overall UK wide £7m target, within Meningitis UK.

Only with your help and drive will we achieve this target and hopefully somewhere along our journey, our efforts will secure a ‘Vaccine’ that will eradicate this disease and the merciless attack on young people’s lives.

Bristol Half Marathon

Thank you and congratulations to everyone who is running this years Bristol Half Marathon on behalf of Ryan’s Meningitis Appeal “a Life for a Cure”. As many of you will know, this will be the second run in celebration of Ryan’s amazing life with us all and it is a huge honour that so many have again committed to support this event. It is also great to see a number of new faces, including many of his immediate school mates who have qualified this year to run.

Ryan would be overjoyed at knowing how close he remains in everyone’s thoughts and to the many people who will be supporting the event on the day. With such positive support for this great cause, you can see why it is such a fantastic boost to us and we cannot thank you enough for your commitment.

One thing we do know, is that Ryan and ourselves would do exactly the same for anyone of you and without doubt, he will running every step of the way with you all.

With your support we have already broken the £130,000 fundraising mark representing the largest sum ever raised by a family in support of Meningitis. For this we are truly grateful, only made possible through your own massive efforts in making this happen.

Great strides are being made with these funds as we continue our commitment alongside your own support, to hopefully seeing one day, a vaccine that will finally eradicate the 24 strains capable of taking innocent young lives.  It is simply the thought of this, alongside hundreds of inspiring memories of Ryan that continues to drive our passion to make this happen!

Have a fantastic day and we look forward to meeting up with you all.
