Chance to Shine
Chance to Shine is spreading the power of cricket to children and young people in state schools and communities across England and Wales. Since 2005, we have reached over 3 million children. Our vision is for all young people to have the opportunity to play and learn through cricket. This summer, gifts to Chance to Shine are being matched, £ for £, by former Chance to Shine Chairman and long-term Patron, Adrian Beecroft. Help us on our mission today and your gift will go twice as far!
Laureus Sport For Good Foundation
The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation funds sports activities for disadvantaged young people in the UK and around the world. Laureus promotes the positive effect that sport has in tackling some of the world's most challenging social issues from mental health, HIV/Aids, and substance abuse to crime, social exclusion, and violence.

Ali's 'Chance to Ride'

Fundraiser:
Alison Mitchell

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Alison-Mitchell

Thanks for visiting my page. I've never remotely cycled 80 miles before and I don't even own a proper road bike so I'll have to pedal extra hard to keep up with everyone else!

I'm cycling the 4th leg of ex-England cricket captain Michael Vaughan's 'Chance to Ride' charity cycle, which is taking him between all the ODI venues in the England v Australia series. I'm commentating and reporting on the matches in Cardiff and Southampton for TMS and 5Live, so what better way of travelling between the two...Hmm.

The two charities supported here both share the belief that sport has the power to change lives. I agree.

Through work I've met many children who have received the educational benefits that cricket has to offer through the Cricket Foundation's Chance to Shine initiative, which is bringing cricket back into State Schools. The Laureus Foundation has a worldwide reach and uses sport to help communities help themselves, tackling issues such as HIV, homelessness, poverty and drug abuse.

I feel lucky that so much of my life has involved sport, and I know many of you feel the same, whether you play it, watch it or work in it.

I'd be delighted if you could sponsor me. You'll be using sport as a force for good, and it will certainly make the hills feel less painful! Thank you so much.

(Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and all donations are safe and secure. Your sponsorship will be split 50-50 between the two charities)
