Anj Cairns' Edinburgh Marathon Adventure!

Fundraiser:

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/anjcairns

it's 2012 and they won't let me into the Olympics or the London Marathon so in a crazy moment of what must be madness I signed up to run the Edinburgh Marathon.

I'm running to raise money for New Bridge, a amazing yet small national charity who work to help offenders live positive lives in prison and in the community. They run befriending and mentoring programmes with nearly 200 dedicated volunteers improving wellbeing of offenders and helping them make the transition back into the community. New Bridge doesn't get any money from the government for their long term Befriending Service or to run the charity so every penny you donate will go towards giving isolated prisoners a chance to change.

  • £10 covers the cost of postage and redirection of 20 letters to and from prisoners who have no contact with family or friends on the outside.
  • £50 will run a Support Group for a month helping volunteers safely befriend prisoners regardless of their crime.
  • £100 will help to train a volunteer who will then go on to help prisoners live positive lives.

I wouldn't be running a crazy distance for a charity if I didn't really believe that they made a difference and I'm asking you to consider sponsoring me in my very own Olympic endeavour!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

You'll be able to follow my training progress via my blog - stop by and read it now and again and hear about the trials and tribulations of getting up early on cold, wintry Sunday mornings. Thank you!
