Wrighty Way Cycle Ride Arch to Arc

Fundraiser:
Sally Hewitt

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/arctoarch

In May 2009 Steve (Wrighty) my "other half!" was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer.

Every year around 3700 people die of this disease in the UK and about 7000 are diagnosed. Kidney Cancer is the 8th most prevalent cancer and yet little is known about it and it is treated as a rarer cancer. We are seeking to change this by raising awareness and alerting people to the symptoms and encouraging them to see their doctors.

Steve had his kidney removed in June 2009 and when I take part in this challenge it will be just over a year since he was diagnosed. Steves cancer had already spread to his lungs before he was diagnosed and since July Steve has been undergoing a course of treatment called  HD IL2, which is an intense treament to say the least!

I feel very passionate about raising awareness of Kidney Cancer, it is a diseases which predominantly effects men and we all know what men are like about going to the doctors! If we had known more about Kidney Cancer then I know Steve would have gone sooner to the GP, which could have meant that the cancer wouldn't have spread or at the very least I would have nagged him a lot more!

So please support me, the challenge  is a sponsored cycle ride over 4 days in aid of the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer, starting at Marble Arch in London and ending at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris

And if for no other reason, it should produce some funny pictures! Especially as I don't even have a bike YET!

So through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charity.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. If you would like to keep up to date with Steve's progress, then please go to http://www.wrightyway.blogspot.com/ and I'm sure I will be updating it with some cycle updates!
