Charity

Have a Heart
Have a Heart is the official charity of Heart radio. Our aim is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children living in the communities that Heart broadcasts to. Have a Heart raises money throughout the year through a variety of means, and grants money raised to a partner charity. Currently Have a Heart is supporting ChildLine - the free phone and online service, offering support & advice for any child who has nowhere left to turn. In January 2012, six men in a boat are going to attempt to become the first crew to row across the Atlantic in under 30 days!

They're doing it for charity - including our own Have a Heart supporting ChildLine! It is one of the most gruelling challenges in the world and one in which each crew member will burn over 12,000 calories every day!

The sea trials started in April 2011 and the selection process had just one aim in mind – find a crew with the ability to row across the Atlantic Ocean in under 30 days. Following this series of trials a crew of ian Rowe (can you believe his initials are i Rowe!!!) from Harrold just north of Bedford, Aodhan Kelly, Simon Brown, Yaacov Mutnikas, Mark Beaumont and skipper Matt Craughwell from Hertford were selected, and since that time they have all been training with this one goal in mind.

The attempt will commence in January when conditions are considered at their peak.  Over the course of the Odyssey Heart will be keeping you up to date with training, trials, tribulations and successes each morning on Heart Breakfast with Stuart & Natalie.
