IntoUniversity
The vision of IntoUniversity is to provide a national network of high quality, local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve. At each local centre IntoUniversity will offer an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration. IntoUniversity centres provide sustained academic support, motivation and encouragement to give deprived young people a fair chance of realising their full potential. At each centre we provide 7-18 year olds with a combination of after-school academic support, corporate and undergraduate mentors and specially designed study weeks. We believe that we must start working with children in the primary years if we are to have a decisive impact upon their futures. We continue to give academic and pastoral support right through to university application. We are the only organisation offering a long-term, multi-stranded programme to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We're now operating 22 centres across London, Nottingham, Bristol, Oxford, Brighton, Leeds and Southampton, and we have ambitious plans to expand to new parts of the UK.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed straight to IntoUniversity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

IntoUniversity provides local learning centres in disadvantaged areas where young people are inspired to achieve. The charity exists because children from Britain’s poorest backgrounds face a considerable educational disadvantage: young people from disadvantaged postcode districts are four times less likely to get good GCSEs than students from well-off areas, and six times less likely to go to university.

IntoUniversity aims to address underachievement and social exclusion among young people by offering an integrated programme of out-of-school study, mentoring, aspirational coaching, personal support and, in partnership with schools and universities, a specially devised FOCUS programme. 70% of IntoUniversity students progress to university, compared with the national average of 43%. By supporting this cause, you are making a difference in transforming young people’s lives.

Why running for them?

Because parents who have not been through higher level study may not encourage their children to aspire for a university place. Because parents in immigrant families may not have the language skills to support their children’s learning at home.

Because some parents, however much they want to be, are not strongly engaged in their children’s learning, and perhaps some are even not that bothered.
Because the home culture – the attitudes of siblings and other family members - may not encourage aspiration and academic achievement.
