Mend the Gap is an international charity registered in the United Kingdom. We undertake practical educational and poverty reduction and environmental projects at home and in and Eastern Africa. Our mission is to help individuals and their communities fight for a fairer and more dignified world by helping them mend the gap between cultures, religions, generations and people of different wealth for the benefit of current and future generations. We will achieve this by making practical links and creating bridges between these different groups, communities and individuals. We build, renovate or provide skilled and unskilled volunteers to teach and work with schools in impoverished rural areas in Africa. We provide the schools with teaching and learning resources. These include providing access to computers and the internet and providing relevant training for both students and teachers. We link these schools with schools in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world and arrange for mutual exchange visits. We work to change the conditions that make people poor. We work to eradicate poverty by improving local agricultural and other business value chains and work with communities to sustainably protect and use environmental resources at the local level in Africa. This includes providing basic social infrastructure and promoting ethical tourism to the Masai Mara Game reserve and surrounding areas where we work. We provide gap year, work experience and volunteering opportunities in Eastern Africa for local people and others across the world.
