Friends Of St Mary's Hospital
Who are we? We are an official Charitable Body with an elected Board of Trustees and a group of volunteers working together with the NHS Primary Care Trust. What do we do? We run the Hospital Shop, the two Coffee Shops and the daily Ward Trolleys. Also, we have book sales, collecting boxes for loose change in the Hospital Foyer and collecting tins around the Island. Why do we do it? To supplement the excellent service already provided by St Mary’s by financing extra facilities which enhance the lives of patients, staff and visitors alike. In recent years, the League of Friends has provided much-needed equipment which has contributed to patient well-being, both during their stay in hospital and also in community care. Since the League of Friends, now the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital, was founded, hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised. Approximately half a million pounds has been donated from the takings achieved by the volunteers since the year 2000.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

The Station are doing two firefighter challenges known as ‘ A Wight Carry On’ which will be completed by the firefighters, and the ‘Cent Cols Challenge’ which will be completed by Watch Manager Kelvin Wright.

The fire-fighters shall be carrying a 13.5 metre ladder section from Ryde’s Western Gardens, a total of 66.4 miles all the way round the island, touching base at each of the other fire stations in turn, before returning to Ryde on the Saturday evening to converge with the Ryde Carnival Main Procession and finish on the Esplanade.

WM Wright will be undertaking The Cent Cols Challenge in September which involves climbing 100 Cols in ten days, cycling approximately 200 kms per day across the Pyrenees with an average of 4,300 metres of ascension on each stage.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
