Arthritis Research UK
At Arthritis Research UK, we invest in breakthrough treatments, the best information and vital support for everyone affected by arthritis. We believe that by harnessing the power of exceptional science we can overcome the pain, isolation and fatigue arthritis causes, making everday life better for all 10 million people with arthritis in the UK.
Childrens Chronic Arthritis Association
Founded in 1985, The Childrens Chronic Arthritis Association (CCAA) is a registered charity providing a support network for children with Arthritis and their families. We aim to give practical help and support through our network and area family contacts, and to provide various educational and recreational opportunities for children with JIA. The CCAA is a user led organisation which means children with Arthritis are at the heart of our work. They form our membership, are involved in all of our activities and direct what we do as a charity.

Thank you for coming to my fundraising page. I am undertaking a challenging 2000 mile bike ride from Bath to Rome to raise awareness of children with arthritis. I am riding to raise funds for Arthritis Research UK and Children's Chronic Arthritis Association (CCAA). These are causes very close to my heart.

Just after birth I developed septic arthritis and this infection caused long term damage to my right hip. I've grown up with a limp, daily pain and restrictions to movement. Because of my damaged hip I can only pedal my bike standing up and will have to set modest targets for the distances I cycle everyday. That is why it will take me more than three months to complete the challenge. It's a good job I can sit down on the saddle while freewheeling. I plan to reach Rome on the 12 October 2017 on World Arthritis Day.

From my own experience people are often surprised to learn that I suffered from septic arthritis from such a young age. But I am far from being alone. Many young people live with all types of arthritis and need support throughout their lives. I hope my journey will inspire them.

For details about the route visit my website www.bathtorome.co.uk. It would be great if you could join me for any part of the trip.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to my two charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
