Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue
Thousands of greyhounds retire from racing every year. Some are less than two years old; the majority are aged around three and four. Many people do not realise that greyhounds make excellent family pets. They are gentle, loving and adapt to home life easily. Contrary to common belief they are actually very lazy and only need two 20 minute walks each day. When re-homed responsibly they can live with other breeds of dogs and other pets such as cats. Why not consider 'A forty miles per hour couch potato' as your next family dog?

I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and after battling through life, at the age of 27 I underwent a double lung transplant in February 2014 and now I feel ready and able to take on a challenge.

The three of us mad, bearded fools (very strange as we're all females!) wanted to do a sponsored event, but didn't want to do anything as ordinary as a "normal" walk or bike ride... and so, having found information on the Fright Hike, we figured a hike through a haunted forest, in the dark on Halloween weekend would be just our cup of tea as we're all mad about the supernatural.

We have decided to raise money on behalf of two charities which are close to our hearts: Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit & Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue.

Papworth CF unit have looked after after me for several years and despite their best efforts, my lungs still deteriorated beyond repair. Thanks to the transplant team (and my donor) I am now finally able to do something to try to give something back to the unit to help those who are still battling on. It is also a good opportunity for me to do something in memory of good friends who sadly passed before transplant could transform their lives.

Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue is a Maldon based rehoming kennels for retired greyhounds who are in need of loving, family homes. The unfortunate side of things is that there are always too many dogs needing homes, for the kennels available. We as a family have helped to home numerous greyhounds over the years who have enriched our lives greatly, and we hope to help others find their forever homes.
