Stirling Marathon Team

Hello, and for thanks for visiting our fundraising page!

The team taking on the Stirling Scottish Marathon in May includes:

  • Ryan Newman
  • Theo Spinoulas
  • Gerard Kelly
  • Lesley Pirie
  • Stuart Earl
  • Laura Donaldson

Lesley Pirie has competed for Scotland in Half Marathon events

We have decided to run the first ever Stirling Scottish Marathon to raise funds for ARC - Antenatal Results and Choices.   The charity provides advice and support for parents, families and professionals during the antenatal screening process who have received the devastating news that their pregnancy is not progressing as expected, and there is a risk their baby has a serious fetal anomaly. ARC was nominated by a member of our company after the charity provided invaluable support towards their family after they lost their daughter during pregnancy last year, and the charity still continues to offer support and help to them today.  As a company we wanted to support the worthy causes which have helped out people within our own BEAR family, and we hope we can raise a good amount for ARC as a team.

The idea of running the Stirling Marathon itself came about when race organisers got in touch to plan the course. Parts of the 26.2 mile route through Stirling are on BEAR roads - the A84 and a very small part of the A9 - so after some gentle persuasion internally we found six willing volunteers who are up for the challenge and keen to get involved!

Five are running a marathon for the first time (!) with the exception of Lesely who is taking part in her third, however with a PB of just over 2 hours 41 minutes she'll definitely be strides ahead! Lesley has competed at International level in Half-Marathon races, so we're delighted to have her taking part in the BEAR team.

The team have all been training hard and are looking forward to seeing how much can be raised in support of ARC.

Wish us luck!!
