Mount Aconcagua Expedition

Mount Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the western hemisphere and lies in Argentina, close to the Chilean border. At 6962m Aconcagua is the highest peak in the Andes mountain range, and the highest mountain outside the Himalaya. This expedition up the North route to the summit will test you to the max!

The challenge I have set myself this year is way beyond anything I have ever attempted before, and I don't say that lightly!  I appreciate this year is more difficult than ever to find it in yourself to donate, the economy is a mess and there are so many good causes with so many people doing challenges for charity.  The Anthony Nolan Trust's life saving work is only made possible through fundraising though and therefore, I am upping it a level again! 

At 6,962m (22,841ft) Argentina's Aconcagua is the highest mountain in both the Western and Southern hemisphere.  It is one of the "seven summits" and lies second only to Everest at 8,840m.  Reaching the summit of Aconcagua is no simple trek!  This is an extremely tough and arduous expedition, you can rest assured that I will be earning every penny that is donated, believe me!!!!!

So far over the years I have reached Basecamp Everest (5,545m), climbed Kilimanjaro (5,895m) and Mera Peak (6,476m) and completed the London Marathon (26.4 miles), all of this in an attempt to encourage you to dig as deep as you can and help the Anthony Nolan Trust actually save lives. 

I got involved after a dear friend, Ian “Bison” Lane (in the photo opposite) died of Accute Myeloid Leukaemia shortly before his 27th birthday after suffering 9 months of excrutiating pain.  I do these challenges simply an attempt to raise money to prevent other families and friends having to live with the loss of a loved one.  It doesn’t have to be this way.

Over the last 30 years, The Anthony Nolan Trust has grown from the personal crusade of one mother, Shirley Nolan, to try and save her son Anthony, to a world leading charity that has given the gift of life to over 5,800 children and adults.  I can't argue with statistics like that, what the Trust does on a day to day basis really does save lives.
