Bliss
Bliss, the special care baby charity, provides vital support and care to premature and sick babies across the UK. We offer guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives. We also fund ground-breaking research and campaign for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born.
Only 0 days to go!

In April 2011 I went along to the Virgin London Marathon to watch my friends Rob, Mike and Jon compete. As I watched the runners stride past, I realised that I was on the wrong side of the barriers; The atmosphere and effort was incredible; Later that year I entered the 2012 event via the online ballot, and promptly forgot about it...

That was until I received a letter in the post informing me that I had somehow, flukily, been selected for a sport in this years race!

As the lucky recipient of a ballot place, I have no obligation to raise money, however I thought it would be good to take this opportunity to fundraise for the charity Bliss - for babies born too soon, too small and too sick.

In June 2008, my nephew Max was born 11 weeks premature. His health was touch and go for a while, but thanks to the expert care provided by the Special Care Baby Unit at Whipps Cross Hospital, Max pulled through and is now an energetic and happy 3 year old!
Special Care Baby Units across the country do incredible work. As a charity, Bliss believes that:

  • All premature and sick babies and their families should have the best possible care and support

  • Babies should have the same rights as anyone else

  • The voices of babies and families must be heard

  • Driving quality and innovation in the NHS will deliver improved care for premature and sick babies and their families

  • We achieve more by working together with individuals and organisations

  • We must always be able to demonstrate the difference we make to the lives of babies and their families.
  •

The photographers code says never work with Kids or Animals - however, given the nature of the charity, I thought it would be appropriate to offer 'Baby Photo Shoots' in return for charitable donations of over £100. If you or anyone you know would be interested in this, please get in touch. I've made a facebook page here:
