Action for Children supports and speaks out for the UK's most vulnerable, disadvantaged and neglected children and young people. We’ve been working with children since 1869, and currently run nearly 500 projects across the UK supporting around 50,000 children and young people. This makes us the UK’s leading provider of family and community centres and services for disabled children and young people leaving care. We also promote social justice by lobbying and campaigning for change.

Bill, Jim and Sue's Big Bike Ride
BIG BIKE RIDE
Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
Bill, Sue and Jim are riding from St David’s in Pembrokeshire, to Chepstow in Monmouthshire, a distance of 190 miles.
The ride is being done to raise funds for the Charity Action for Children, which celebrates its 100th anniversary, of working in Wales, this year.
The charity was founded in the Victorian era originally to house homeless children in London. Until twenty years ago it was known as The National Children’s Homes as this was what it did.
In more recent times children’s homes have become a thing of the past and the charity now concentrates on providing the largest Fostering service in Wales, which is based in Newport. The Charity also runs counselling centres for vulnerable children and their families covering a very wide range of problems .These centres are spread all over the country ,the nearest being in Newport and Caerphilly. The ride was originally scheduled for the 12th, 13th & 14th of May 2011, but has had to be put back to 8th, 9th and 10th September 2011.
