Charities

WaterAid
WaterAid is an international charity. Our mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. For a gift of just £15 WaterAid can enable one person in Africa or Asia access to these basic services.
Hope and Homes for Children
Orphanages do not protect children. They harm them. Which is why we are working towards a day where every child can grow up in a loving family. Hope and Homes for Children is a global expert in the field of deinstitutionalisation - supporting children into loving families and preventing family breakdown. With your support we are building a global movement that will eradicate orphanages in our lifetime.
The Ahoy Centre
The AHOY Centre is a watersports based charity offering opportunities and building life skills through sailing and rowing. We work with disadvantaged and at-risk young people plus disabled people and we bring people together from many walks of life to work as a community helping others. There is a major focus on teamwork and personal development and through our courses and activities we provide the opportunity to build self-esteem, confidence and offer training vital to finding employment.

Great Pacific Race 2014

On June 7th 2014, Team Boatylicious will embark upon the Great Pacific Race, considered ‘the biggest, baddest human endurance challenge on the planet’. Aoife, Amanda, Ingrid and Emily will be the only all-female four in the race and hope to set a world record as the first female four to complete the journey.

Their challenge will involve rowing 2,400 miles from Monterey Bay, California to Honolulu, Hawaii. To put this challenge in to perspective, over 5000 people have summited Everest whereas only five people have rowed this route.

The team will face sleep deprivation, stormy 40-foot waves, physical pain and psychological exhaustion as they row in alternating two hour shifts for the duration of the race. Self-supported, they will carry all of their food and equipment on-board their 24 foot ocean rowing boat.

The goal is to raise over £40,000 for three superb charities; WaterAid, Hope and Homes for Children and The Ahoy Centre. Any support to help us reach this target is hugely appreciated and we would love for you to follow our journey at www.boatylicious.org.

As part of WaterAid's 'To Be a Girl Campaign', the UK government (DFID) will be doubling all donations made before 9 September.

We have had to set up our fundraising page again for various reasons but huge thanks must go to our supporters who have already kindly donated a very generous £1,671.98 to Hope and Homes for Children;

Campbell Gordon, Martin Billings, Lance Anelay, Mark and Stephanie Fernandez, James Burgess, Karen Johnson, Field Seymour Parkes. Mike Rolls, Elizabeth Sturgess, Simon Perkins, James Scott-Lee, Rob & Vivien Cairds, David Dutton, Julia Branson, David Darvill, Deb Scott, Mark Appleton, Chris &Tina Coulcher, Suzy Davis, Nick Carter, Derek Gilbert, the Kavanaghs, Caroline Henley, Nick Jacobs.
