Charities

Starlight
Starlight grants magical wishes to seriously and terminally ill children who are afraid and in pain, and is the only charity providing entertainment, fun and laughter to half a million children in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK.
Childrens Hospice South West
At Children’s Hospice South West we help and support children and their families who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and we are the only organisation in the South West to provide vital hospice care in a hospice environment to these families. Some families come to us for palliative care, some for emergency care and many for planned respite and a rare opportunity for a break away. But there’s more to it than that. We provide a loving and caring place for every member of the families who stay with us. A place where everyone can begin to forget their worries for a while, be a family again and find expert help and support in facing an uncertain future. Our services are free to the families who need us because we believe that nothing should get in the way of very sick children receiving the very best care. So, with little government funding, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to deliver our promise to ‘make the most of short and precious lives’. Children’s Hospice South West has three purpose-built hospices in the South West; Little Bridge House in North Devon Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in St Austell, Cornwall.
Amigos Worldwide
Amigos works with disadvantaged children and young adults in Uganda; our mission is to bring self-sustainability, dignity and hope to some of the most vulnerable young people in East Africa, through vocational training, educational opportunities and holistic life-skills.
Reedham Children's Trust
Thank you so much for your generous donation to Reedham’s Children Trust. Reedham exists to help children from families trying to function in desperately difficult circumstances, for whom caring for a child is a struggle. Your support will help us offer children the chance to thrive and learn at a modern, nurturing boarding school and enable them to gain the stability and care they deserve in order to fulfil their potential. John O'Groats to Land's End 2018

Fundraiser:

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/BobCarter1

Hi and thank you for visiting my page. Over 40 years ago I walked from John O'Groats to Land's End, 900 miles in 26 days, raising funds for the children's home I worked in at the time, Reedham, in Purley, Surrey.

I had always thought about doing the walk again, and so decided earlier this year to give it a crack. I also decided to make it a bigger challenge than before, so now aiming to raise as high an amount of cash as possible plus all our operational costs, for four children's charities, all doing amazing work for very ill, threatened or vulnerable children.

The four charities are Amigos, Children's Hospice South West, Reedham Childrens Trust and Starlight - there are more details on the web site www.walktheextrasmile.co.uk

So please dig deep to help children who are much less fortunate than ourselves, some of their stories are a mix of numbing, mind blowing and tragedy

Very many thanks

Bob
