Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is the official hospital charity of the Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. We support patients at the hospital by providing extra equipment and facilities, and by funding research. The Royal Centre For Defence Medicine which treats all the UK's military wounded is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. You can find out more about the hospital charity at www.qehb.org
Anthony Nolan
Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders. Every day, we match incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants. It costs £60 to recruit, tissue type and maintain just one potential donor to our register. Your donations will help fund our lifesaving work. Please visit www.anthonynolan.org for more information or email events@anthonynolan.org if you'd like to get more involved.
Cure Leukaemia
Enabling patients access to potentially life saving, ground breaking drugs and treatments. Cure Leukaemia supports the work of the Haematology Centre at the University Hospital Birmingham and also those hospitals working with the centre through joint research being Birmingham Women’s Hospital, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Stoke on Trent, Dudley, Worcester, Stafford, Heartlands and Sandwell.

BONE-shaker MARROW-thon charity ride 2014

Fundraisers:
Stephen Sinfield

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/boneshaker

The BONE-shaker MARROW-thon is a 35-mile motorcycle ride inspired by leukaemia patient Katherine Sinfield (click on Katherine's name to visit her website).

The ride will pay tribute to the two hospitals which have been responsible for Katherine's continuing care - the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and the Queen's Hospital in Burton-on-Trent. It is therefore also dubbed the Queens to Queens Ride.

The ride will depart at 10am on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Riders will then take a steady ride aloing the A38 to Burton-on-Trent.

Upon arrival in Burton-on-Trent, the route will pass the Queen's Hospital before finishing at the Pirelli Stadium (Burton Albion FC) where post-ride entertainment and fund-raising events are planned.

The ride will raise money for the following three charities - each has a personal link to Katherine.

  • Cure Leukaemia - the charity co-founded by Katherine's consultant which gives patients access to ground-breaking drugs.
  • Anthony Nolan - the charity responsible for finding Katherine a suitable bone marrow donor for her transplant which took place in October 2013.
  • QEHB - the charity which raises funds to make patients as comfortable as possible while at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingam.

How to give?

Riders are asked to make a (minimum) £5 donation on the day at the start of the ride.

Non-riders, family, friends and supporters are asked to pledge their donations on this page.
