Charity

Bowel Cancer UK
Bowel Cancer UK is a national charity with offices in England and Scotland. The charity aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice. More than 38,600 men and women are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year and more than 16,250 people die from the disease annually. Early diagnosis of bowel cancer in the UK is a problem because people either find it uncomfortable to discuss the symptoms of the disease or simply do not know what they are. Survival rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in Europe, with 15 percent more patients being diagnosed at a later stage of the disease compared with most other European countries. This is why Bowel Cancer UK’s work, to encourage people to recognise the symptoms of the disease and to act on their concerns so that they have the best chance of survival, is so important.

Brian's Big Bike Ride for Bowel Cancer

Fundraiser:

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/briansbigbikeride

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

On 8th June 2012, I am starting a two week bike ride from France to Scotland in aid of Bowel Cancer UK, in memory of my friend David Noble who lived in Raissac d'Aude.  He was a great man, a true francophile and a very dear friend.  We shared a mutual love of the South of France.

He died peacefully on November 4 in hospital in Narbonne, France, after a dignified year long battle with cancer with his daughter Jodie and partner Stephanie by his bedside. He was 61 years old.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Bowel Cancer UK. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on the charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

 My planned route:

June 7th leave Raissac D 'Aude for Carcassonne

June 8th Carcassonne to Toulouse
June 9th Toulouse to Condom
June 10th Condom to Bordeaux
June 12th Bordeaux to Royan
June 13th Royan to La Rochelle
June 15th La Rochelle to Bretignolles sur mer
June 16th Bretignolles to Nantes
June 17th Nantes to Rennes
June 19th Rennes to St Malo
June 20th Ferry to Portsmouth
June 21st Portsmouth to Oxford

June 23rd Coalville to Barnsley
June 24th Barnsley to Harrogate
June 25th Harrogate to Consett

If you want to support me en route call Stephanie or Jodie and they can let me know!

Please give generously.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
