Wilko cycles to Paris for the CAB
LONDON TO PARIS CYCLE RIDE SUMMER 2012
Hello, and welcome to Wilko's fundraising HQ!
You may or may not be aware of the work that Citizens Advice Bureaus do across the country, but in a nutshell they provide free, impartial and confidential advice to people from all walks of life in sorts of difficulties, ranging from bankruptcy to abuse to employment difficulties, and look to improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.
It is an amazing service, and I have been fortunate enough to spend a couple of summers working alongside the volunteers in the Tunbridge Wells Bureau. Without a doubt it was one of the friendliest and most wonderful working environments I have ever found myself in. Recently the Bureau has been hit hard by a number of funding cuts as the widespread austerity measures have kicked in, leading to a closure of one of their clinics and a need to rely on private donations more and more.
In light of all of this, a group of 11 University Students (including myself) have decided to help raise funds and awareness for this most worthy cause by fundraising in Tunbridge Wells and then riding the 250 miles or so from London to Paris this summer! The ride will be taking place from the 28th of June to the 1st of July, where we will arrive into Paris on a Sunday afternoon and do victory laps round the Arc de Triomphe. Pictures to follow.
