Thyroid Cancer Support Group - Wales
We are a self help/ support group offering support to thyroid cancer patients. This is a rare form of cancer and there is little help available to new and existing patients. We provide this much needed help to patinets, families and friends. We provide information about the treatment and after effects and give out informative booklets. We also have provided improvements to the two treatment rooms where patients have to stay in isolation while receiving their radio iodine ablation treatment. We have provided flat screen tv's, more comfortable bedding, small fridges , developed an attractive garden outside each room so that patients have a pleasant outlook while they contemplate their future after a cancer diagnosis. We are members of the international Thyroid Cancer Alliance which promotes awareness of this rare form of cancer.

14 years ago my Mum got diagnosed with Medullary Thyroid Cancer.  This year it came back.

This is a rare disease and therefore no single doctor has large number of patients under their care.  For these reasons it is difficult to analyse the various treatment available.

Thyroid Cancer Support Wales, through Education, Participation and Communication help aid research and ultimately an understanding that will lead to make better placed treatment decisions in the future.

Whilst this story is far from Unique - I have a cape, Morocco has a dessert, london has a marathon and Wales an Ironman.  Recipe to make a difference I am sure you will agree!!!

please donate on line or send a Q to Matthew Evans, Pantiles, Lydstep, Pembrokeshire.  SA70 7SE.

Thank you  / Diolch.
