The Chartwell Cancer Trust raises funds to pay for additional medical staff at the Chartwell Cancer Unit, The Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, Kent. It helps to provide the best possible treatment and care for cancer and leukaemia patients.

Richard's First Marathon 2010

Having been lucky enough to gain a ballot place in the Virgin London Marathon, I have chosen a very worthwhile local charity to raise funds for; The Chartwell Cancer Trust. They directly support The Chartwell Unit, which is the specialist NHS cancer and leukaemia treatment unit in the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, Kent
The aim of the trust is to increase the staff to patient
ratio, and to help provide the best available equipment to
ensure that funding will never be an issue when treating
patients with cancer and leukaemia related illnesses in
the Chartwell Unit.
My Mum was treated in the unit for advanced Lymphoma. The treatment and care she received was, and indeed continues to be, excellent. Thankfully Mum is making great progress in her recovery, and her courage and positive attitude in the face of adversity has amazed all who know her. It will certainly spur me on when the going gets tough over the 26 miles.
My training is progressing fairly well, and by the time I stand on the start line I will have completed over 400 training miles since my entry was accepted!
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
