EllenorLions Hospices
EllenorLions Hospices provides all encompassing hospice care to over 2,500 children and adults each year and aim to provide a seamless service to meet all the needs of our patients and their families. We care for people at any age with cancer and other progressive, life threatening illnesses. Our care takes place in the patient's home, in local hospitals and our own 15-bed hospice. We started the first hospice at home service for children in the UK and have pioneered transition care for teenagers. We strive to provide world leading hospice care.

When a child has a serious condition and may not live into adulthood, families face an extremely difficult time.  One of the worries is when the child has to leave the comfort, security and proximity of the family home for treatment or respite at a hospital or hospice.

So chYps offers a different approach to palliative and end of life care.  Instead of the child coming to the hospice, the hospice comes to them.  This allows the child and Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters to stay together.

Our purpose is to enable children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions to receive clinical care and support in their place of choice, which is overwhelmingly in their own home.  In doing this we support the whole family.

We provide a comprehensive Hospice at Home service which includes end of life care, short breaks, music therapy, play therapy, counselling and chaplaincy support.  We also offer additional support services to our families to include a Youth Group, coffee mornings and short break outings.

For young people entering into adulthood, our Transition service helps them move smoothly into adult care.

We call this full hospice care – in the family’s own home.  For however long is needed.  And completely free.
